Thumping

My dog even wags his tail in his sleep, he is so funny.  I keep hearing this thumping noise and finally find the source of the noise, it is him sleeping and thumping his tail on the ground while his paws continually move as if he's in perpetual motion and he whines too, and all the while his eyes are half open.  He is a crazy dog and I love him.
